                                   FRIENDSHIP.
                           Never before has contentment
                           set in so readily
                           acceptance and to be accepted
                           in surroundings that, only a short time ago
                           were unknown to me
                           yet surroundings that are fimiliar
                           to my heart, surface deep but warm
                           ready to expand on both levels
                           given the chance
                           friendship, a rarity and beauty
                           shared, only by those
                           who seek it.

Final Moment

When she tumbled backwards
through the plate glass
her life did not pass
before her eyes

only bundles and bundles
of television sets
with multi-national images
of third world children

and just before she hit the ground
the smiling face
of a well-fed Cambodian child
opened his mouth

and breathed
softly against her cheek.
